KMI Lucas PI Parts
Located just a few miles down the road from us, KMI have been remanufacturing and reconditioning components for fuel injection systems since 1977.
We maintain a stock of KMI's most popular parts for the Lucas Mk2 PI system fitted to Triumph TR and 2.5 saloon cars.

Note:
-
As with everything in life, you get what you pay for. KMI parts are rebuilt using new / refurbished parts and tested to ensure correct operation prior to despatch in the same way we build and test our throttle bodies.
-
Exchange parts must be in a reconditionable condition. If you are not sure please call or even better send some pictures.
-
We are not VAT registered so there is no VAT to add to our prices.
KMI Reconditioned Standard Metering Units
We stock KMI reconditioned metering units for all cars:
-
TR CP (150BHP) early with push on return
-
TR CP (150 BHP) late with screw on return
-
2.5PI Saloon (132BHP)
-
TR6 and 2.5PI Saloon CR (125BHP)
Metering units are supplied on an exchange basis. They come with reconditioned non-return valves for cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 6, but do not include the non-return banjo bolts for cylinders 2 and 5.
Banjo bolt non-return valves cannot be reconditioned. Either reuse your own or buy new ones - price below.

FMT Remanufactured High Altitude Metering Units
This is a reproduction of the High Altitude metering unit supplied by the factory under part number RKC 0095. The unit automatically adjusts the mixture to take account of changes in altitude as you drive. These units were only made for a short period by the factory and those that survive are as rare as hens teeth. We have used an original unit supplied by KMI to remanufacture the parts necessary to convert standard metering units.
We machine a standard control body and then fit the remanufactured barometric chamber and modified internal parts. The units then go to KMI to be built up with reconditioned rotor assembly and vacuum chamber from the exchange unit. The unit is calibrated at KMI and then returned to us to check and set the barometric adjustment using a vacuum chamber and our Hartridge machine.
They are not cheap, but they are now available to buy for the first time since the factory discontinued them in 1973. If you regularly use your car to traverse the Alps like I do, you need one on your wish list as they are brilliant! Note we can also use the remanufactured parts from these units to repair and replace missing parts from original units - please enquire.

KMI New and Reconditioned Injectors
We stock new and reconditioned push-in and screw-in Injectors. New and reconditioned injectors can be purchased outright or you can part exchange your old injectors. All are supplied with new collars and 'O' rings.
The new injectors are better than the reconditioned injectors as they seal more effectively meaning less leakage and quicker priming and start up if your car has not been used for a while.
Reconditioned injectors have been fully refurbished by KMI and fitted with new springs and o rings, seats ground and tested for pop pressure, leakage and spray pattern.

Note:
-
Not all injectors were made with nipples on. If you are exchanging injectors they come in KMI sealed boxes. They may all have nipples some may not. Injectors without nipples are not faulty and as such cannot be swapped once the box is opened. If you want a set that all have nipples, we can send yours for reconditioning for you.
-
As per the manual one drip per minute is acceptable whilst the fuel lines are pressurised (immediately after the engine is switched off). They operate as well as the new injectors when the car is running. However, they may not seal as well when the engine is off, and as such, it may take 3 or 4 cranks of the engine before the system primes and the car fires up if it has not been used for a while.
-
Exchange injectors must be reconditionable and in a condition that means they can be resold. Ideally they should be from your engine. Corroded injectors and those with damaged threads or serious spanner damage would not be suitable for exchange, but we could have them reconditioned for re-use on your car. Send us some photos if you are unsure.
KMI New Injector Pipes and Fittings
New injector pipes with remanufactured fittings reproduced by KMI. Supplied with new 'O' rings for fitting to your existing banjo bolts or replace yours for new ones whilst you have the metering unit off. We can also normally supply new pipes with replated fittings or recondition your own.
You can purchase the new or reconditioned pipe sets outright or exchange yours against them. Exchange sets must not have any significant damage or pitting. If yours are damaged or heavily pitted, send us a photo and we will let you know if we can take them in exchange.

KMI Reconditioned Lucas Fuel Pumps
The much maligned Lucas pumps were made specifically for the Lucas PI system. As such they have the correct combination of high pressure and low flow that the PI system needs. They do not draw a high current to pump fuel that is not required and is returned to the tank via the PRV. The pumps suck, and do not need to be mounted below the tank. They are also very quiet in operation. Cooling coils can be fitted to reduce the risk of overheating. We can also modify Mk2 2.5PI pump cradles to accept cooling coils.

KMI recondition their Lucas Pumps using good used pump rotors and motors from their large stock of old units, together with new bearings, brushes, seals, cables etc. Motor commutators are resurfaced in the lathe. All pumps are fully tested for pressure, flow and current draw.
KMI reconditioned Lucas pump outright sale- £300 each
KMI reconditioned Lucas pump exchange - £250 each
KMI Pressure Relief Valves and Malpassi Diaphragm Fuel Pressure Regulators
Malpassi diaphragm type fuel pressure regulator – the Malpassi diaphragm fuel pressure regulator does the same job as the Lucas PRV, but its design has two advantages. Firstly, fuel pressure can be adjusted without having to disconnect any fuel pipes and with the engine running. Secondly, if used with a BOSCH type pump, it doesn't resonate due to wear. The Malpassi diaphragm PRV is supplied by KMI and includes all of the fittings necessary to enable fitment directly to the original Lucas brass T piece.

New Lucas PRV long type – these new PRV’s are available in the long type only and can be used with Lucas and BOSCH fuel pumps without resonation. These new PRV’s can be used as direct replacements for long and short body types. These PRV’s are tested and calibrated ready for use with either Lucas or BOSCH pumps.
Lucas PRV’s reconditioned – these PRV’s are fully reconditioned with new seals and tested and calibrated to work with Lucas or Bosch pumps. They work equally as well as the new items, but may resonate if used with a BOSCH type pump.
